Hypersensitivity test (Skin allergy test)

As a qualified beautician It's a must to always perform a skin allergy test 2-24 hours before application when using any new henna paste/s. Similar to when dying hair or applying tanning lotions etc. And as there are so many different types of henna pastes out there whether they are coloured, glitter, dark or light, you should always ensure to test your skin first.

Here is how:
  1. Make sure skin is clean and dry.
  2. Apply one small line or dot of henna paste into crease of your elbow or behind the ear as these places are the most thinnest part of the skin so reactions will show up quicker, if any.
  3. Wait for henna paste to dry.
  4. Wipe off.
If no reaction appears on skin within 2-24 hours then continue using the henna paste/s.
If you are allergic to the henna paste/s, you will have redness and swelling at the test spot. In that case, get appropriate treatment and use alternative methods next time, such as other types of body paints, glitters, nail polish, coloured pens, rich pigments with glue, sequins etc.
